In this province, registered psychologists must practice according to the laws governing all health care professionals in Ontario and the regulations, guidelines and standards set by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. A psychologist must become registered with the College before they can become a certified clinician. This helps protect the public interest. The registration process involves rigorous educational and training programs and successful completion of multiple comprehensive examinations. Psychologists must also continually upgrade their knowledge, skills and competency.
